High School North student Leah Seidman (left) has earned a mini-STEM grant from New York Institute of Technology. The $300 award is the result of Leah's research proposal, “Effect of different bean species on the Microbiome of bean beetle Callosobruchus Maculatus." This is the sixth iteration of the NYIT Mini-Research Grant program. In a message to Leah, the grant committee wrote, "[We] especially congratulates the women awardees of the New York Institute of Technology’s Mini-Research Grant Award Program. Women and girls in STEM fields, especially women and girls of color, can face enormous obstacles to success. We are inspired by these awardees and are eager to see them excel in their careers."
