Hi, my name is Carly and my sister is Michelle, we are sadly writing this because our mom Toniann Towell had a stroke on Thursday July 25th.
Our mom was air lifted to jersey shore medical center and had to get an emergency surgery to open up 2 blockages one in her carotid artery and the other in her brain.
Luckily they were able to do this within the necessary time period which is the biggest blessing that was able to turn a major stroke into a smaller stroke in her brain. She does have a small amount of damage to the brain but thank god there is no bleeding.
She’s making great progress but having trouble speaking and getting her words out, lifting her right arm, walking, etc. She will have a long road to recovery, and unfortunately does not have health insurance. This is an issue because we need to get her the proper care immediately after she is discharged from the hospital within the next few days.
She’s going to need to stay in an acute care rehabilitation center. these places can range from $1,000-$3,000 a day. She will need to be there for about a week, or possibly longer. From there we will need to bring her to rehab regularly or have them come to her home.
Her medicines are going to be up to $400.. and she will not be able to work for a while which will also hurt her and her beloved husband mark financially.
