Man Arrested Following Tragic Shooting of 9 Year-Old Child in NJ

After a child was shot and killed outside his grandparents' Newark home, a man has been taken into custody.

Due to the death of 9-year-old Yasin Morrison, Jesse Dunbarr, 36, is currently charged with first-degree murder.
"We just heard gunshots, and then the next thing we saw was Yasin laying on the sidewalk," grandmother Tisha Bolden said.

After being brought to a nearby hospital, Yasin was declared dead. Yasin's father and the other man should be alright.
According to the child's grandparents, their son was dropping off Yasin and his 3-year-old sister at their Osborne Terrace home on Friday night so they could spend the weekend there.

According to the police, Dunbarr opened fire as they were exiting the vehicle, hitting Yasin and another man while also grazing Yasin's father.

Authorities declared after being taken into custody, 36-year-old Jesse J. Dunbar II was charged with aggravated assault, murder, and attempted murder.

Additionally, he is accused of shooting an unnamed man on Osborne Terrace on Friday night, whom police believe he was aiming for.

Investigators think Dunbar was following a 36-year-old man who was strolling down Osborne Terrace's sidewalk. That man was hurt when he allegedly drew a gun and fired, but Morrison was also hit by a bullet.
