According to Lacey Police Department, on Thursday, October 19, 2023, police observed a vehicle make an illegal “U” turn near Lacey Road and Lake Barnegat Drive North.
The officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle, which was described as a dark colored Honda Civic with a Massachusetts license plate, and activated the patrol vehicle’s overhead emergency lights. The Honda Civic quickly turned off Lacey Road and onto Vaughn Avenue in an attempt to elude the officers.
The vehicle turned down Adolphus Street and fled from officers. The officers did not pursue the vehicle.
Ptl. Sarno #96 discovered the suspects car while searching the area for it on Briggs Avenue North, parked next to a residence. The car appeared to have crossed the house's front lawn before making a run for it along the north side of the property's fence.
Christopher Miller, the driver, was discovered lying down and cowering beneath the front of the car. He is 26 years old and hails from North Andover, Massachusetts.
Christopher Miller was taken into custody without incident.
Christopher was transported to police headquarters where he provided samples of his breath for testing. Christopher was processed and charged with the following motor vehicle violations: Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Improper U-Turn, Careless Driving, Failure to Stop, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.
Christopher Miller was charged criminally on a warrant for 2nd degree Eluding police officers.
Christopher was lodged in the
Ocean County Jail pending a future court date.
