Man Sentenced for Hiding Camera and Recording Minors in Home in Brick, NJ
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, a man from Monmouth County was sentenced to nine years in prison for surreptitiously filming female victims, including a teenager, in a Brick Township home and uploading the footage to pornographic websites.
Judge Guy P. Ryan of the Superior Court sentenced
Michael P. Mattina, 59, of Matawan, on Friday. According to the prosecutor's office, the five-year prison term on the charge of distributing child pornography includes five years of parole ineligibility.
Additionally, Ryan convicted Mattina of invasion of privacy and sentenced her to four years in prison, according to prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. According to authorities, the sentences will be served consecutively.
On July 22, 2024, Mattina entered a guilty plea to both charges in front of Ryan.
According to authorities, investigators discovered that Mattina had concealed a camera in the home's bathroom and had used it to record six female victims, including one who was sixteen years old. After that, he uploaded the videos to two pornographic websites.
How Mattina was able to conceal the camera has not been disclosed by the authorities.
In August 2020, Mattina was charged with violating privacy, distributing pornographic materials, endangering the welfare of a child, and creating and disseminating child pornography, according to Billhimer.
After being summoned, he reportedly turned himself in at
Brick Township Police Headquarters.
