Man Steals $7K Parrot from New Jersey Store: Have you Seen Him?

The Saddle Brook Police Department is requesting the publics assistance. An African grey parrot worth $7,000 was taken Thursday from an exotic bird store on Route 46 east in Bergen County.

The Police Department is asking for help finding a parrot.

Authorities claim that the theft took place at Birds by Joe 2, a family-run business in Saddle Brook that specializes in exotic birds, including hand-raised parrots.

Around 3:30 p.m. on January 23, a man in a dark Nike hooded sweatshirt came into the store and requested to see an African grey parrot.
To show the customer, the clerk placed the parrot in a single cage display. He swiftly fled the store after grabbing the cage, according to a statement from the police.

As Katarina Rukavishnikova, the store's owner, pursued the man, one of the video surveillance cameras caught him scurrying out the door.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Saddle Brook Police Department Detective Bureau at 201-587-2940 or Rukavishnikova at 862-591-2473.
