Keeley Ploumitsakos, a senior from Manchester Township, will compete in the DECA Principles of Marketing State Competition this month.

In January, Keeley triumphed over 98 competitors in the demanding and challenging Principles of Marketing DECA Regional Competition.

Students have the chance to take part in a student-funded competitive high school club called DECA through this competition, which is an offshoot of the Manchester Township High School Business Academy.

Globally renowned DECA trains aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders for jobs in management, marketing, finance, and hospitality.

Keeley participated in the January Central Region Principles of Marketing Event at Kean University as one of nine students from Manchester Township High School.

Keeley was given a scenario-based marketing question during the regional competition, and she had ten minutes to come up with and present a solution that would address the problem. She went before a judge who worked in that specific business sector professionally and made her proposal.

According to Joseph Serratelli, a Manchester DECA consultant and business teacher, Keeley had the highest score among the 98 students that competed to win that event.

Manchester Township High School's Business Academy was created about four years ago. The MTHS DECA Club was founded by Serratelli and instructor Nicholas Salvemini to assist Manchester business students in their pursuit of practical experiences and business networking opportunities that reinforce the principles of business and marketing lessons taught in the classroom.

The DECA club at Manchester High School is looking for nearby companies who would be willing to sponsor the club's business students. Serratelli can be reached via email at jserratelli@mtschools.org, for those who are interested.
