61 workers at the Christmas Tree Shop in Brick Township will lose their employment due to the impending closure of the business.
Christmas Tree Shops said that it would close all of its outlets in court documents filed earlier this month. By the end of August, the home goods retailer intends to close all of its remaining stores.
At the time,
Christmas Tree Shops still operated 10 locations in New Jersey. But ever since the business filed notifications announcing 531 layoffs from those stores, the human cost has become more apparent.
As of Monday, nine of the stores were still open. The stores in Cherry Hill, Deptford, Freehold, Mays Landing, Paramus, Rockaway, Springfield, and Woodland Park were still operational in addition to the Brick location at 479 Route 70 East. Bridgewater's Christmas Tree Shops have closed.
It is unclear when the remaining New Jersey locations will close. Deal hunters were asked to check with the stores as they are closing quickly, according to a post on the Brick Township store's Facebook page.
