Meet the Oldest Active Lifeguard in New Jersey at Age 82

The oldest living lifeguard has been identified as a man from New Jersey.

Ed Kiziukiewicz is one of many lifeguards on the beaches around the country this summer, but he is older and has more experience than the others.

It's time for Kiziukiewicz to report to work at 8 a.m.

"Well, my workplace is just getting started. In fact, my office is right on the beach. Looking at the people in the water is more important than just sitting on the beach and admiring the girls, and if you're doing your job, you should essentially be a dry lifeguard," Kiziukiewicz stated.

Since 1961, Kiziukiewicz has been performing his duties effectively, and Guinness World Records has named him the country's oldest living lifeguard!

He walks to the water to assess the conditions at the start of his day.

The retired math teacher from Brick High School, who now lives in Seaside Park, started working as a lifeguard at Island Beach State Park in 1961 and has spent the last 23 years at Bayhead Beach. He's just one of the local heroes you'll meet down the shore.
