Miraculous Survival: Woman Jumps From Raritan Bay Bridge

According to Sayreville Police Department, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a woman leaped from the Thomas Edison Bridge, which crosses the Raritan River where it empties into Raritan Bay on Route 9.

The woman jumped off the bridge on Wednesday about 3:30 p.m.

But, according to the authorities, she somehow survived the fall. Sayreville Police spokesman Lt. James Novak claimed that Perth Amboy Police officers responded in their boat, saved her, and hauled her out of the water below.

The height of the Thomas Edison Bridge is 135 feet. With 82,000 cars crossing it every day, it is one of the state's busiest bridges. Although Novak claims he misinformed other journalists that she had jumped off the Victory Bridge, which spans Raritan Bay, she did not.

He claimed that while State and Woodbridge Police also provided assistance, Perth Amboy Police was the primary rescue organization.

As the woman was brought to shore on Wednesday afternoon, police and rescue personnel could be seen in Woodbridge's Keasbey neighborhood. Her current health status is unknown.

Additionally, police withheld the woman's age and the town in which she lived.
