Friday, NJ shall see pouring rain and by the time the precipitation ends in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, up to 1 to 2 inches of rain might fall in many parts of the Garden State, with some places in northern counties perhaps receiving up to 3 inches.
The rain is still required in New Jersey, which has been under a drought warning since November, even though the outlook is not ideal for outdoor activities.
According to the meteorological service, "excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone places" in Bergen and Passaic counties, which are under a flood watch.
The watch, which is in force until 1 a.m. on Saturday, is not as urgent as a warning.
A cold front is predicted to stall out somewhere north or northwest of New York City, posing a potential of flooding, according to weather service forecasters. Some parts of New Jersey and New York will experience pockets of rain from the storm system due to the front's stall.
As high pressure moves across the area, Mother's Day is expected to be amazing. Anticipate bright skies and temperatures that may get to the mid-70s in NYC and Jersey Shore. Check out the local
