After a mother of two was discovered dead inside a refrigerator in a Cape May County forest, a South Jersey family is looking for answers.

Cornel Alston of Gloucester City remembered, "Having to sit down with your two daughters and tell them that they found your mother is one of the hardest days."

Alston learned that his 50-year-old ex-girlfriend Laura Hughes had been discovered deceased in late December. With her, he has two kids.

She was stolen from my children. "My daughter will never witness her college graduation," Alston stated in a Friday interview with 6 ABC Action News.

Hughes was discovered dead on December 22, according to the police.
A refrigerator that had been abandoned in Dennis Township's Belleplain State Forest contained her remains.

Christopher Ryan Blevins, Hughes' most recent boyfriend, is accused of illegally removing her corpse and abandoning it in the woods. However, no one has been accused of killing her.

According to court documents, police used license plate reader data to track Blevins' vehicle.

On July 24 and 25, photos allegedly show his truck with what appears to be a refrigerator in the back.

Police say he fled to Mexico in August and later surrendered to authorities there.

Alston has issues with this timeline, saying he saw Hughes in court related to a child support issue on August 22.

Action News has confirmed that Blevins is not in prison even though he turned himself in in Mexico.

The New Jersey State Police and U.S. Marshals are actively searching for him.
