New Arrival: Baby Zebra Joins Cape May County Zoo Family

According to the Cape May Zoo, on May 21, the zoo welcomed a new addition to their Grant’s zebra herd - a male foal born to Lydia and Ziggy!

This exciting new addition is the first male to be born at the zoo in recent years.

Although foals take frequent naps, you’ll also be able to observe him nursing and playing in the zebra yard with the rest of the herd. The Zoo is open daily, 10 am - 4:30 pm.

Grant’s zebras are a subspecies of Plains zebra and are endemic to central and eastern Africa. Gestation lasts 13 months, and foals are born ready to take on the world, running within an hour of birth!

Visit the Cape May Zoo for more information including directions, hours and more.
