According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in some areas of the state might feel as high as 107 degrees on Friday.
The counties of eastern Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Union, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, and northwest Burlington will all be under an Extreme Heat Warning along the I-95 corridor. Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Monmouth, Ocean, and southeast Burlington counties are all under a Heat Advisory.

Even though a Heat Advisory is not as severe as an Extreme Heat Warning, temperatures in some areas may still reach 106 degrees.Records might be broken by this heat.

The National Weather Service also says there is a slight chance of severe storms throughout the entire state. Wind gusts that cause damage locally provide the biggest threat.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service stated, "Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms move northwest to southeast." since of time, "the likelihood of severe weather will be higher northwest of the I-95 corridor and lower as you move southeast since, according to current projections, these areas won't see any of this activity until later in the evening."

The humidity will persist throughout the weekend, but the good news is that the heat will pass. There will be ongoing rounds of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, with the majority occurring on Sunday.
The following week will see more warm, muggy weather. Monday through Wednesday are predicted to see highs in the 90s before another cooling trend starts.

"Depending on the area, far more significant shifts will occur throughout the Northeast between Tuesday and Wednesday," Merrill stated. "A few days in the middle to late portion of next week are predicted to have a hint of fall, with average highs that are below historical norms and persist into the first few days of August."
