New Jersey Braces for Impact of Winter Storm
Forecasters predict that the weekend winter storm that has been threatening the Garden State all week will dump more than five inches of snow in some areas of New Jersey from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for the counties of Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Salem, Cumberland, Ocean, Cape May, Atlantic, Hudson, Union, and eastern Essex from Saturday night until 1 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters predicted that the region will receive between three and five inches of snow overall, however some places would receive more than five inches. One-inch-per-hour snowfall rates are also feasible.
According to the National Weather Service, "the heaviest totals (are expected) along I-95 and locations just southeast of I-95 in southern New Jersey and northern Delmarva."
Travelers are being cautioned by forecasters about slick, snow-covered roads. Snow may also blow around on Sunday due to strong gusts. But as of right now, no ice is anticipated.
Temperatures are predicted to dip on Sunday, with highs in the lower 30s and lows in the teens. Forecasters predicted that Sunday night and Monday morning will bring the coldest wind chills to the area. Check the local forecast.
