New Jersey Braces for Strong Storms in the Coming Days

According to the most recent forecast, the Garden State will have another day of intense heat before strong to severe thunderstorms move in through the end of the week and into the weekend.

The National Weather Service predicts a 50 to 70 percent likelihood of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
As a cold front approaches on Thursday, we should finally see some respite from the heat. Forecasters predict temperatures in the mid 70s and low 80s in North Jersey, which is ahead of the front. South Jersey, meanwhile, is situated south of the front but not far from it. Forecasters predict that temperatures there will reach the mid-to-upper 80s, with heat index readings "only" in the low-to-mid 90s.

Temperatures in the 80s will revert to seasonal norms during the weekend. Rain is still a possibility, but it will likely fall largely in the afternoon and evening on Saturday and Sunday, so plans to be outside might not be affected.
