According to authorities, a man was taken into custody on Friday, June 13th in relation to a murder that shook a peaceful Monmouth County community last week.

According to earlier reports, Rolando Acte Mejia, 36, was shot and killed inside his automobile in Howell Township just after 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Following his identification as a suspect in the case, Juan Jesus Mejia Yanza, 33, was brought into arrest at his residence without incident, according to a news release issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office on Saturday.
Yanza is accused of two linked second-degree weapons violations in addition to first-degree murder.

Additional information and a more accurate inquiry timeframe were not immediately accessible.

Mejia and Yanza were both from Howell.
It was unclear at first what kind of relationship they had. The shooting, according to investigators, was an isolated event.

As of Saturday, Yanza was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution while he awaited his initial appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The case is still under investigation.
