New Jersey Weather Update: Anticipated Snowfall of 1 to 4 Inches

NJ Weather Update: Coastal Storm Could Deliver Snow This Friday

New Jersey Weather Update: Anticipated Snowfall of 1 to 4 Inches

According to the most recent projections, a coastal winter storm could bring 1 to 4 inches of snow to northern New Jersey on Tuesday, with the possibility of 5 inches in certain areas.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center stated on Saturday night that "the threat of a winter storm across the Mid Atlantic into the Northeast continues to increase for early next week."

There is still ambiguity on the precise amounts of snow and the rain-snow line, but precipitation is expected to start late on Monday.
At least one inch of snow might accumulate in counties north and west of the I-95 corridor, which would be the first significant winter storm of the year.

At over five inches, higher elevations in western Passaic and Sussex counties may receive the greatest snow.

There may be a combination of rain and snow in certain parts of central New Jersey, with occasional sleet.

Precipitation will finish on Tuesday night from west to east as the storm system moves swiftly through Tuesday.

A slight alteration in the storm's path might cause the rain-snow fall line to change, according to the National Weather Service.
Prior to Tuesday's storm, rain is expected to arrive in New Jersey on Sunday morning and spread throughout the state by the afternoon, with light rainfall of 0.15 to 0.25 inches expected in most places.

As a cold front moves through on Sunday night, the precipitation will stop.

Sunday's afternoon highs will be in the upper 40s, close to 50 degrees in the south and along the coast, and in the low to mid-40s in the northwest. Check your local forecast and see what is expected in your area.
