New Jersey Weekend Storm Could Bring Up to 6 Inches of Snow

According to the most recent forecast, a winter storm on Sunday could bring up to 6 inches of snow to parts of New Jersey.

"The greatest potential for significant accumulations remains for areas along the I-95 corridor and points north and west," the National Weather Service stated in its morning update. Three to five inches of snow could fall in this area, with higher totals possible locally.

Snowfall is predicted to continue into the evening and could start as early as Sunday morning. With the potential to accumulate more than 1 inch of snow per hour, this snow could be heavy at times.

As of Friday morning, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the storm, though. The National Weather Service warned that the coastal area may experience more rain than snow, depending on the storm's path.

Roads could become slick and covered in snow, according to AccuWeather forecasters. The private weather agency cautioned that even a little snow could result in "significant delays."

Given the uncertainty surrounding the storm's specifics, the National Weather Service stated that the forecast is subject to change.
By the time the storm passes, however, we will be moving into what the National Weather Service described as "by far the coldest airmass so far this season," which will bring much colder temperatures. Only Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs in the teens, and if there is enough snowfall, temperatures in South Jersey could drop below freezing.
