NJ Braces for Intense Storms Amidst Heat Wave

The National Weather Service has forecasts predicting temperatures in the upper 80s through Friday, along with a risk of thunderstorms on that day.

The true heat will be felt next week. From Sunday through June 20, there is a 70 to 80 percent likelihood of temperatures that are hotter than average, according to the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service.

The Northeast is about to experience the first prolonged period of midsummer heat and humidity, with second-half June temperatures predicted to break records. Before then, AccuWeather meteorologists anticipate a round of strong thunderstorms in the area, which may have an impact on travel and outdoor plans as the weekend approaches.
