NJ Braces for Remnants of Hurricane Beryl

According to the most recent forecast, residents of New Jersey can expect another hot, muggy, and stormy week. Later in the week, when Hurricane Beryl's remnants move into the area, there will be a higher risk of thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service, will bring "dangerously hot and humid conditions" to start the week. These days there is a heat alert for the whole state, with the exception of Cape May County. Forecasters stated that temperatures would be in the neighborhood of 100 degrees. The heat and humidity may persist until Thursday, even though the alert is only valid through Tuesday.

The National Weather Service stated that "the big story with this period is the approach of Beryl, primarily Wednesday into Thursday," as the week goes on.

Although the storm is predicted to move further west of New Jersey, meteorologists caution that there is still a 70 percent possibility of significant rain falling in the state.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service stated, "The remnant low of Beryl still looks to track northwest of our region, keeping the strongest forcing generally northwest of our region as well." "That being said, still looks like we will have considerable coverage of storms particularly north and west of the fall line."

Although flash flooding is still a possibility, analysts indicated it should happen very quickly. North and east of the I-78 corridor is where there is the most risk.

According to forecasts, clouds may move in early enough to decrease the heat throughout this period.

There is still a chance of thunderstorms and severe rain on Friday and Saturday.

The National Weather Service stated, "The potential for heavy rain is my biggest concern with this period of the forecast." In much of the state, there is a chance of downpours, which increases the possibility of flash flooding.
