I am appalled by the horrifying attack on a synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and I strongly condemn this act of violence. My heart is with Michigan’s Jewish community, and I commend the swift response by security personnel that ensured none of the staff or children were harmed. Every person – of every faith and background – deserves to feel safe in their house of worship and in their community.
My office is closely monitoring the situation. While there are no specific threats to New Jersey at this time, I am working with federal, state, and county authorities across our state to ensure the safety of our communities.
If you see or hear of any suspicious activity, please contact local law enforcement or report it to the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness at njohsp.gov/report or by calling 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ (1-866-472-3365).
