NJ Residents Brace for Another Round of Extreme Heat
According to the National Weather Service, through Wednesday at 8 p.m., New Jersey is under a HEAT ADVISORY due to extreme heat and humidity, which could result in feel-like temperatures of 100 degrees or higher. The humidity and heat are harmful. The following several days will see a lot of sunshine and heavy humidity. While there aren't many effects on air quality today, there will be some on Tuesday. The haze in the sky is caused by smoke from distant wildfires that waft into the upper atmosphere.
Wednesday will continue to be hot and sunny, with highs in the nineties.
Perhaps very late Wednesday or Thursday, there will be heat-busting thunderstorms that lower the temperature. It's too early to predict how catastrophic these storms will be.
Friday will bring fall-like temperatures with highs in the upper 70s. It is lovely and new. Warm, largely sunny weather is expected for the weekend, with highs in the 80s. Check the latest
forecast.
Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, western Monmouth, Morris, Ocean (apart from the adjacent coastline areas), eastern Passaic, Somerset, and Union counties are among the many locations of New Jersey that are covered by the advisory.
Residents of New Jersey are being advised by forecasters to limit their exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and refrain from physically demanding activities during the hottest afternoon hours.
There won't be much relief at night, as overnight lows will barely fall into the 70s.
