NJ Residents Brace for Intense Thunderstorms and Rainfall
According to the National Weather Service, New Jersey will see May showers through early Saturday, with thunderstorms and up to 3 inches of rain predicted throughout the state.
Thursday will begin dry, but rain is expected to come in as the afternoon and evening go on. The National Weather Service predicts that it will initially strike northwest of the I-95 corridor.
Forecasters predicted that the number of showers with embedded thunderstorms would increase throughout the evening and spread throughout the Garden State by Friday morning.
Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated on Friday, diminishing by the night. Any residual rainfall is expected to cease by Saturday morning, according to meteorologists. Overall storm accumulations are projected to be between 1 to 2 inches statewide, with certain areas in North Jersey potentially receiving up to 3 inches, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Saturday will begin with windy and cooler conditions, but the sun is anticipated to emerge by the afternoon. Mother's Day on Sunday is expected to be pleasant, featuring warm mid-May temperatures and the return of sunshine.
