NJ Under Frost Alert as Temperatures Drop Significantly

Frost Advisory in NJ

Alert: Freezing Temperatures
Expected Across New Jersey

With evening temperatures predicted to fall into the 30s in many places, a frost advisory has been issued for the majority of New Jersey for the second time in five days.

Late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, the temperature might drop as low as 33 to 37 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. This could result in frost formation in suburban and rural regions, which could harm or even kill delicate outdoor plants.

Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Morris, Ocean, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties, as well as the western parts of Monmouth County and the western part of Passaic County, are under a frost advisory that will be in force from midnight today until nine a.m. Tuesday.

All of eastern Pennsylvania is also under a frost advisory.

Homeowners are advised by the weather service to either take sensitive plants indoors until Tuesday's warming temperatures or cover them before the cold temperatures set them.

But on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, frost might form once more.

Strong wind gusts have been blowing for several hours, despite the fact that Monday afternoon temperatures in New Jersey had reached the low 60s to low 70s.
