NJ Weather Update: Storms and Snowfall in the Forecast
With April showers, thunderstorms, and snow in some regions highlighting a rainy weeklong forecast, may flowers be abundant next month.
The
National Weather Service predicts that a developing coastal storm will bring two to four inches of rain over the following three days. The state is expected to have rain starting on Monday and continuing through Thursday.
Although minor flooding and/or rises could occur on creeks, rivers, and streams, significant flooding is not anticipated, the National Weather Service Mount Holly station stated in a statement on Monday.
The weather service said that until Wednesday night, periods of rain with a forecast of one to three inches might result in localized flooding. "There may be some tidal flooding on Wednesday or Tuesday night."
The weather service reported that the daytime highs of Tuesday will persist, though there is a chance of a few thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening. With temperatures falling into the 30s on Wednesday, the rain on Wednesday may potentially turn into wet snow in the Poconos and northwest New Jersey.
As per AccuWeather, the Northeast is expected to have a continuous cold snap with temperatures ranging from 5 to 15 degrees below average, along with chilly mornings in the middle to end of the week.
Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski of AccuWeather said, "Several days of cold winds will accompany and follow the storm that is likely to be a slow-mover." "It may seem like winter finally showed up."
By Thursday, when temperatures should reach the mid 50s with partly sunny skies, the rain is predicted to lessen. It looks like another bright weekend with mid-50s temps is in store.
