According to Toms River police, a man from North Jersey was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car on Route 37 in the morning of January 10, 2023.
According to Jillian Messina, a public relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, the 42-year-old male, whose name was not revealed, was struck on Route 37 close to River Drive at around 9:30 a.m.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the individual was not at a crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound car when he had walked into the road, Messina said.
She claimed that the driver did not exhibit any symptoms of intoxication and stopped and remained at the scene. No name of the driver was given.
The pedestrian was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was listed in critical condition, according to Messina, after police and emergency medical services responded.
