Ocean County Homes Hit by Lightning Strikes

According to Brick Township Police Department, Brick Township had four houses and trees struck by strong lightning during Tuesday's severe thunderstorms, but authorities reported no injuries or fires.

Patrol Officer Terence Berkeley reported that during the storm, Brick Township police got 71 calls for assistance. The National Weather Service reported that the storm dumped over 2 inches of rain on the township.
Berkeley claimed that flash flooding in low-lying areas and traffic difficulties were caused by the amount of rain that fell locally, with Jackson receiving over five inches, Point Pleasant receiving more than 2.5 inches, and nearby Howell receiving almost three inches.

There were scattered power outages but they were resolved by Wednesday morning.
