Ocean County Man Charged in Toms River Vehicle Burglaries Remains Detained
According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, following his apprehension in relation to multiple break-ins, a Toms River man was placed under arrest and ordered to remain in the Ocean County Jail.
Judge David Fritch of Ocean County Superior Court ordered 45-year-old
Kristopher R. Fudali to be detained until his trial. During the hearing, Fudali hurled a chair and broke the jail's television feed.
Police Chief Mitch Little stated that Fudali was found on July 24 by Toms River police following a brief pursuit after they responded to a report of a man attempting to enter automobiles. Fudali had been placed on probation since May 2023 in connection with a previous burglary case.
Little stated that just before one in the morning, police received a call reporting that a man in khaki shorts and a white T-shirt was attempting to enter cars on St. Regis Court. Patrolman Tyler Pinto responded to the call and saw the man seated in a car in a Feldmus Lane driveway. Little added that although the man fled into the woods, he was quickly located in the retention basin.
The individual was identified by the police as Fudali, who was wanted for arrest on a warrant issued on June 29 in relation to more crimes, according to Little.
According to Ocean County Corrections , Toms River police charged Fudali with 14 crimes in connection with his arrest on July 24. The charges included seven counts of burglary, three counts of theft by unlawful taking, three counts of criminal attempt-conduct, and one count of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Little stated that further accusations are still pending against
Fudali, who has been accused of using credit cards obtained through theft from homeowners' cars fraudulently on several occasions in 2024. The investigation is still ongoing.
Fritch had heard the allegations against Fudali, who has 28 previous convictions, three of which are for second-degree burglary, at the detention hearing on Monday. He had also consented to Assistant Prosecutor Annie Wen's request that he be held until trial.
