Ocean County Tragedy: Woman Stabs Her 2-Year-Old Brother

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced on Sunday that a woman from Brick Township is suspected of stabbing her brother, who is two years old, at their Brick home.

In the Saturday incident, Marlene Rodriguez, 20, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
According to the prosecutor's office, the child was found with a stab wound to his chest when brick police were called to a residence on Burke Lane at around 2:30 p.m. According to authorities, he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where his status is classified as stable.

According to the prosecutor's office, investigators concluded Rodriguez had stabbed him. They provided no information about the incident or its potential cause.

After being taken into custody, Rodriguez is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail until a detention hearing. Jail records did not include an immigration detainer.
The prosecutor's office Major Crime Unit, Brick Township police and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating.
