A woman from Ocean County has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in which she allegedly discharged a firearm at another individual.

Jessica Bartky, 44, residing in Lacey Township, was apprehended at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, according to law enforcement officials.

The police in Lacey Township were dispatched to a home on Longwood Drive in Forked River after receiving reports of gunfire.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Bartky had aimed a handgun at another person within the residence. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the other individual involved.

The report indicates that the bullet skimmed the individual, resulting in minor injuries.

The victim declined any additional medical assistance, as stated by the police.

Bartky was apprehended at the residence.

Furthermore, she faces four charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to police reports.

Bartky is currently held at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, awaiting a detention hearing.
