Ocean County Woman, 80, Killed in Atlantic City Expressway Crash
An 80-year-old woman from Barnegat lost her life in an accident on the Atlantic City Expressway in Pleasantville on Thursday, according to police reports.
The incident occurred just before noon in the eastbound lanes of the expressway, close to milepost 4.8, as stated by the New Jersey State Police.
Initial investigations revealed that the Hyundai subcompact SUV, operated by the Barnegat woman, was halted in the left lane when it was struck from behind by another vehicle.
The rear-end collision involved a Genesis GV80 SUV, which hit the back of the stationary Hyundai. The driver of the Genesis sustained minor injuries, as reported by state police.
The identity of the victim is being kept confidential until the next of kin has been informed, according to state police.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
