Ocean County Woman's Tragic Death Results in Murder Charges
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, a Keansburg man has been charged with murder in relation to the death of a Seaside Heights woman who was discovered with serious head injuries.
Emiliano Davila, 41, was accused on November 6 of killing Mary O'Connor, 32, who passed away at
Community Medical Center in Toms River following an incident at a motel in Seaside Heights.
Two males transported O'Connor to Community Medical Center on November 3, but they departed before the police could arrive, so Toms River police reacted. She had injuries consistent with strangling, a brain bleed, and was not responding, according to investigators.
Davila was one of the guys who dropped O'Connor off at the hospital, according to detectives from Seaside Heights Police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit. Subsequent inquiry showed that Davila had attacked her the previous evening and that the two had been dating.
Later that day, detectives from the Brick Township Police and the Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force arrested Davila, who was first accused of domestic violence aggravated assault by strangulation. In anticipation of a detention hearing, he was placed in the
Ocean County Jail.
On November 5, two days later, O'Connor passed away. The Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office conducted a post-mortem examination and concluded that the manner of death was homicide and that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head that resulted in a subdural hematoma.
As a result, Davila was charged with murder. The charge was given to Davila at the Ocean County Jail using a warrant.
