Post-Christmas Travel Disruptions at Major New Jersey Airport
Holiday travelers are hurrying to take flights home from Newark before the snowfall due to what could be the biggest snowstorm this winter.
As of 2:15 p.m. on Friday, 66 flights between 7 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. have been delayed, with 41 cancellations, according to the website of
Newark Liberty International Airport.
As the day goes on and the winter storm gets closer, those figures are predicted to rise sharply.
Because "it's going to be crowded," airport officials are advising travelers to plan extra time for their trip this weekend.
Some parts of New Jersey may experience up to a foot of snow, sleet, and rain from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, according to the
National Weather Service.
Before heading to the airport, officials advise contacting your airline for cancellation and delay information.
