Potential Snowstorm Expected in NJ Next Week Following Warm Weekend
The next few days will see a gradual easing of New Jersey's harsh winter season as temperatures begin to rise.
The warmth won't last long, though, as the temperature will drop once more by Sunday night and there is a chance of snow again early next week.
New Jersey and other northeastern states may receive several inches of snow or sleet on Monday or Tuesday, according to forecasters from
AccuWeather and the
National Weather Service.
But like past recent winter storms, the effects on our region will rely heavily on a number of important variables, including the next storm's trajectory.
"The path and strength of the storm will determine the amount of snow and ice as well as where rain will take over as the major form of precipitation," according to AccuWeather projections.
The cold air that is predicted to arrive on Sunday night is one element that is favoring snow over rain.
According to AccuWeather, "new cold air is a critical ingredient in large winter storms - and next week's system will have enough in place."Widespread wintry precipitation may form when warm, humid air collides with Arctic air.
According to the meteorological service, Sunday will see a return of cold air, with afternoon highs trapped in the low 40s and overnight lows falling into the teens and low 20s. Check the latest
