Potential Threat Forces New Jersey Military Base into Heightened Security Mode
Due to security concerns, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst officials have ordered all non-essential staff to leave the base on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the U.S. Army, the base is "currently at FPCON CHARLIE," with a security level activated "when an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action or targeting against personnel or facilities is likely," according to messages posted on the base's
official social media accounts. An update was made that suspicious packages were reported on the installation. Security Forces and first responders immediately responded, secured the area, and determined the packages posed no threat. According to
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst they are grateful for the quick and professional actions of first responders whose vigilance helps keep our community safe every day.
