Will We Get 6 More Weeks of Winter?

According to legend, winter won't end sooner than six weeks from now if the groundhog notices his shadow, which signifies that the sun is shining. If the groundhog doesn't see his shadow (cloudy), we'll have an early spring. Who will be right this year?

Which Groundhog is the Most Reliable?

Punxsutawney Phil might have a few more decades under his belt, but Staten Island Chuck is far more accurate when it comes to predicting the weather on Groundhog Day.

Without a doubt, the furry forecaster is excellent, with an accuracy rate of about 80%. However, imitations and competing groundhogs pose a threat to him.

According to the Staten Island Advance, Staten Island Chuck, also known as Charles G. Hogg, has a better track record than his Pennsylvania counterpart.

According to Fox 29, Chuck's greatest opponent hails from Pennsylvania and is regarded as a prodigy despite having an accuracy record of only about 39%. According to the Staten Island Advance, the rate has risen to 50% in the last ten years.
Phil will deliver his prediction at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, by 7:20 a.m. The "full-tilt celebration" is planned to begin at 6 a.m. on PCNTV. At 6 a.m., a livestream will be available.

“Will it be six more weeks of winter or an early spring?” the website reads. “There is only one groundhog who holds the answer – Punxsutawney Phil!”

The Staten Island Zoo will broadcast the celebration on Facebook starting at 7:20 a.m. in New York, when Chuck will come with a "very special honorary guest," according to organizers.
