Prepare for More Snow and Ice
According to the most recent forecast, the Garden State is covered in snow and ice from Thursday's storm, and more is expected soon.
As a jumbled mixture of snow, sleet, and rain falls, dozens of school districts throughout the state have announced postponed openings and closures. The
National Weather Service says that all winter weather advisories have ended.
The most recent forecast indicates that Saturday will bring more snow, sleet, and ice. According to the
National Weather Service, Saturday afternoon will see light snow across much of the state, followed by sleet and/or freezing rain later in the day.
According to the National Weather Service, there won't be much snow accumulation from this storm, but there may be 1 to 3 inches in central to northern New Jersey and 3 to 5 inches further north.
By Sunday afternoon, that will cease, but more is yet to come.
AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg stated, "The storm this weekend is just the next in a series of storms that is part of the pattern change that began late last week."
Forecasters predict another storm will hit the region between Monday night and Wednesday, though specifics are still too early. The National Weather Service estimates that the likelihood of seeing more than 4 inches of snow by Wednesday night is between 40 and 60 percent.
A storm is expected to move from Texas to the mid-Atlantic coast from late Monday to Wednesday. A wider area of snow and ice will be to the north of the storm's path, and there is a chance of severe weather and heavy rain from the South into the Southeast, according to Lundberg.
The storm could start as early as Monday night and last until Wednesday, according to
National Weather Service forecasters, though a lot can change before Monday arrives. As the date approaches, more information will become accessible. Check back with
