Remembering a Local Hero: Funeral for Surgeon Killed in Crash

Dr. Jarrod P. Kaufman
(October 10th, 1970 – January 30th, 2025)

According to J.S. Goldstein Funeral Home:

Dr. Jarrod P. Kaufman, a highly respected surgeon, educator, and humanitarian, passed away on Thursday at the age of 54.

Born on October 10, 1970, in New York City, Jarrod was the son of Haya and the late Barry Kaufman and the older brother of Steffen.

He pursued his undergraduate studies at Lehigh University before earning his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Israel. He met the love of his life, Rachael, in New York City, and they became engaged in Israel. The couple married on June 15, 1997, and began their family in Havertown, PA, then Northfield, NJ, before later settling in Toms River, NJ, where they raised their beloved daughters, Victoria and Hannah.
Jarrod was a founding member of Premier Surgical Group and Premier Vein Center in Brick, NJ, where he was widely recognized for his expertise in general and laparoscopic surgery.

He served as Chairman of Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus and New Jersey Chair of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, providing cutting-edge care with deep dedication to his patients.

He was affiliated with Ocean University Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and the Center for Ambulatory and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jarrod was a devoted humanitarian. As president of Hernia Repair for the Underserved, he led global surgical missions, providing life-changing medical care to underserved communities while mentoring the next generation of surgeons. Following the tragic events of October 7, 2023, Jarrod dedicated his service and philanthropic endeavors to support soldiers and victims in Israel—a place so close to his heart.
Jarrod was known not only for his medical brilliance but, most importantly, for his humor, kindness, and generosity. If you knew Jarrod, you had a designated nickname, whether you liked it or not. His compassion extended far beyond the operating room and his patients, leaving an indelible impact on his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachael, his daughters and pride and joy, Victoria and Hannah, his mother, Haya, his younger brother, Steffen, and a vast community of family, friends, colleagues, and patients whose lives he touched.
Jarrod’s legacy of excellence, compassion, and service will live on through the countless lives he impacted. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

The family requests donations be made to Friends of the IDF, Israel Guide Dog Center , and the American Friends of Sheba Medical Center.
