A beloved friend, sister, mentor, boss and mom
Carrie A Lumi, 51 years old of Toms River, passed away June 27, 2023. Carrie was the founder of the successful family law firm, Lumi Law Firm in Wall, NJ.
She was in the process of building a second business that was near and dear to her heart, advocating for families and children.
Born in Lakewood, NJ, to Nicholas Lumi and Dorothy (McLean) Lumi, Carrie was born a brilliant go-getter receiving the titles of Little Miss Dover Township and Carvel's Little Miss Half Pint during her early years.
She graduated from TR HS East, and went on to receive her B.A. from Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pennsylvania and then earned her J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She served as law clerk to the Honorable Anthony J. Mellaci, when he was assigned to the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division - Family Part, Monmouth County. Carrie was also active in numerous professional and community endeavors.
She belonged to the New Jersey State Bar Association, where she served on the Appellate Practice Committee and was a member of the Family Law Section, as well as the Ocean County and Monmouth Bar Associations. She was a member and past co-chair of the Family Law Committee of the Monmouth Bar Association and served on the Family Law Committee of the Ocean County Bar Association.
Carrie was known by her fun-loving sass and sarcasm. She enjoyed going to basketball games, concerts, big events, and the best restaurants. She was proud to be a member of the congregation at Trinity Church in Toms River.
She had a deep love for dogs, and all things Louis Vuitton. Carrie's generosity was unmatched. She loved to spoil her beloved family and friends by planning surprises, and she spared no expense in making others happy.
Everyone who knew Carrie loved her, and those that she loved will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Dorothy Lumi, her brother Louis Lumi, and her beloved dog Martha Mae. She is survived by her dog Betty, sisters, Nicki Lumi and Ellen Lumi, her brother David Lumi, sisters-in-law Lisa Lumi and Kathy Lumi, nieces and nephews Nicholas Joseph, Alexa Nicholle, Taralynn and her husband Josh, Nicholas Jay and his wife Sarah, and many great nieces and nephews.
