Matthew J. Cornier, 32 of Toms River and Brick, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Matt studied Graphic Design and graduated from Kean College-Ocean County College with a Bachelor’s degree. He was a talented artist who was always drawing, thinking, and reading about design.
He started a clothing line, Syren. His slogan was “Live to Die Happy” which is how Matt lived his life. Matt was currently working as a Design Artist for Blazing Visuals in Point Pleasant.
He was born in Belleville, NJ and lived a short time in Bloomfield, moving to Toms River at the age of 3. Matt attended Toms River High School East where he played Lacrosse and was a member of the undefeated Toms River High School East football team.
He was also a Boy Scout with Troop 59 and was very proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 1. Matt’s passions included drawing, playing video games, and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his fiancée Danielle Bethencourt; his parents, June and Christian Cornier; two brothers, Peter and his wife Jennifer, and Christian; two sisters, Adrienne Quinones and Cara Cornier; grandparents Pasquale and Isabel Petracco; mother and father-in-law, Guillermo (Bill) and Roberta Bethencourt, sister-in-law Christina Bethencourt.
Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Joann Petracco and her wife Elaine Maino, Jacqueline Garrison and her husband Raymond and Janice Nolan; nieces and nephews, Adam Quinones, Sofia Cornier and Peter Cornier, Jr. Matt also leaves behind many family members and friends. RIP
