Residents of Toms River Urged to Take Precautions for Nor'Easter

A nor'easter is expected to strike the Jersey Shore this weekend, and the Toms River Police Department is warning locals to get ready for the possibility of major effects.

The National Weather Service predicts that the storm will bring severe winds with gusts of up to 60 mph, heavy rain, and the potential for catastrophic tidal and coastal flooding.

"The Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the development of this weekend's Nor'Easter, which is making its way up the East Coast," according to the police department.
"We strongly advise residents to take precautionary measures," he said, "such as moving vehicles or property in flood-prone areas to higher ground and securing any outdoor items that could be displaced by high winds."

"Our office will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates as more information becomes available," said the police agency. "We encourage everyone to stay informed and take appropriate steps to ensure their safety."

Strong winds and heavy rain may have an impact inland as well, but National Weather Service forecasters predict the storm will mostly target shorefront towns, with substantial coastal flooding and beach erosion possible. Keep up-to-date with the latest forecast.
