Significant snowfall is still predicted for a large portion of New Jersey this weekend, including Toms River.

The Toms River region is expected to receive 12 inches of snow on Friday morning, with the chance of up to 18 inches, according to the National Weather Service forecast. It is predicted that the snowfall will begin on Saturday night and last through Sunday.

Residents were reminded by Toms River officials to drive only when absolutely necessary and to pull their cars off the road to make room for emergency vehicles and plows.

"Heavy ice from the storm might bring down power lines. Avoid contact with downed power lines and report them to the police department immediately," the township said.

Residents should report any power outages by calling Jersey Central Power & Light at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). On the company's website, residents may also report power outages.
