Rooftop HVAC Fire at a Toms River Medical Building
According to Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 and 2 were summoned to 20 Hospital Drive at 7:42 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12th, for an odor of something burning on the second level. When firefighters arrived, they discovered smoke on the second floor.
East Dover, Island Heights, and Pleasant Plains Fire Companies responded with two more ladder companies and one additional engine company, according to reports.
The smoke came from a fire in a blower motor and related components in a roof top HVAC unit, which was placed on the roof. The fire was swiftly put out, and the structure was properly ventilated. There were no reported injuries. The Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention investigated the fire and decided that it was accidental.
