Severe Storms Approaching New Jersey: What You Need to Know

This week, residents of New Jersey should anticipate some unsettling weather, including high humidity, a lot of rain, and maybe strong thunderstorms.

Forecasters predict that Garden State residents will have a wet and stormy week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected from Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of thunderstorms on those days throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

Flash floods could result from downpours. Additionally, experts indicated that the humidity will rise during the week, contributing to the already uncomfortable conditions.

The air's dampness will exacerbate the storms. However, the precise time and location of the rain are unknown to forecasters. The locations can even change every day.

"While the moisture does not guarantee that every location will receive some rain this week, the opportunity for downpours does exist," forecasters from AccuWeather stated. "Some places may pick up multiple downpours each day, while other areas may struggle to collect a few drops of rain by the end of this week."

The newest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that sections of New Jersey are "abnormally dry" and that other parts are experiencing "moderate drought" conditions. In many areas of the state, the rain is greatly needed.
