Hurricane Beryl's after effects, which began to pound the Texas coast on Monday morning, may bring thunderstorms and maybe a lot of rain to Central Jersey this week.
The
National Weather Service office predicts that Beryl's leftovers will be the "big" weather story from Wednesday through Thursday, along with a higher likelihood of severe thunderstorms.
According to computer projections, the storm is expected to pass over Lake Erie on Wednesday evening, bringing showers to Central Jersey through Thursday night.
The storm's rapid movement, according to the
National Weather Service, "will somewhat limit the flooding threat unless we see training storms." Training storms are thunderstorms that pass over the same area repeatedly, bringing with them flash floods and heavy rains.
According to Accuweather, there could be further thunderstorms throughout the state on Friday and Saturday.
When the former hurricane makes landfall in New Jersey, Beryl will be regarded as a residual low.
There is a 70% probability of thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, with the highest chance of rain in northwest counties.
