Severe Storms Prompt Expanded Tornado Watch Across New Jersey

According to the National Weather Service, a Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia until 12 AM EDT. Storms will begin to impact our area after 8 PM this evening. Remain alert for changing conditions tonight!
The National Weather Service warned in an afternoon update that South Jersey is more likely to see severe weather on Friday, including the possibility of tornadoes and wind gusts.

According to forecasters, timing will determine how severe thunderstorms are. Hail and wind gusts of up to 60 mph might cause damage. The more north you go, the lower the risk.
The National Weather Service has also issued flood watches throughout the Garden State.

In the counties of Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, and northwest Burlington, the watches are in place from 7 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Before rain rolls in this evening, forecasts predict that the day will be calm, dry, and possibly even sunny.

The dry spell won't persist, but the rain will stop on Saturday morning. According to the National Weather Service, Saturday afternoon will see more showers and storms, with potentially small hail and destructive wind gusts.

Along with power outages and tree damage, AccuWeather experts predict the same.
Things will dry up on Sunday when June begins, following a considerably rainier than usual May. Then, according to predictions, there may be a brief period of clear, mild weather.
