Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for NJ: Hail,
Strong Winds, Flash Flooding

As storms approach into the region, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entirety of New Jersey through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

As the storms lash the state, forecasters warned of frequent lightning, wind gusts of up to 70 mph, and hail as large as half an inch.
Additionally, a Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for all 21 counties in the Garden State from 2:00 PM until midnight. Flooding in rivers, creeks, and streams, as well as in urban areas or places with inadequate drainage, can result from torrential downpours that can reach up to two inches per hour.
Flash flooding and winds of up to 60 mph are predicted by AccuWeather experts.

At the Jersey Shore, there is also a moderate to high chance of hazardous rip currents developing.

The National Weather Service says the time is from Tuesday afternoon to 8 or 9 p.m. Late this afternoon, rain is expected to begin in the northwest, proceed southeast along the urban corridor, and finally push offshore in the late evening.
