The most recent forecast indicates that after a calm start to the week in New Jersey, snow squalls could occur.

There's about a 20% chance of the squalls — brief, intense burst of snow and wind.

As we get into the week, the chance of precipitation increases according to the National Weather Service.

The risk of snow showers or squalls is the primary concern during this time, both on Tuesday morning and again late Tuesday night into Wednesday. Gusty winds, especially during the day, are a secondary concern, according to the National Weather Service.

Along a front north of the state, brief but powerful snow showers or squalls are predicted to form. It might extend as far south as the I-78 corridor.
According to Accuweather, any snow squalls that form could make travel difficult and cause road whiteout conditions. A snow squall warning would probably last for 30 to 60 minutes if one had to be issued.

Forecasters said, "We are not expecting much in the way of snow accumulation because it is expected to be fast moving and dissipating as it moves into our region." However, "the ingredients are there for this band to be snow squalls, looking upstream where this band might initially develop."

On Wednesday, isolated showers are more likely to occur in the northwest corner of New Jersey, primarily north of Philadelphia. For most of the region, the showers may consist primarily of rain, but in Northwest Jersey, they may consist primarily of snow, depending on the timing.
