Three children who sustained injuries in the tragic accident on Route 55 on March 9, which resulted in several fatalities, have been discharged and returned home, as reported by a family member on Monday. Their mother, however, who suffered severe injuries in the incident, is still receiving treatment in the hospital.

A post on a GoFundMe page established by Daryan Fennal, a cousin of the children, indicates that the mother of five has incurred a brain injury and is currently in intensive care. Meanwhile, the children are recovering at home, "surrounded by the love and support of close family and friends," according to Fennal.

Last week, authorities reported that a third individual had succumbed to injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle collision in Gloucester County. Two occupants of the same vehicle were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The police have identified the first two victims as Brendan Cary and Dominic Reyes, both 19 years old and residents of Franklinville. The third victim, a 17-year-old whose identity has not been disclosed by the authorities, was a passenger in Cary's car at the time of the incident.
Cary was enrolled at Delsea Regional High School in Franklinville, while Reyes had recently completed their studies, as stated by the superintendent of the Delsea Regional School District.

The accident occurred at 4:17 p.m. on Route 55 North in Elk Township, according to Sgt. Charles Marchan, a spokesperson for the State Police.

Marchan reported that the front-right corner of Cary's vehicle collided with the rear-left corner of a Honda CRV that was positioned in the right lane.
Consequently, Cary lost control of the vehicle and veered onto the shoulder, colliding with a stationary Dodge minivan that was transporting a mother and her children. Following the impact, the minivan overturned, according to Marchan.

Fennal informed nj.com that her aunt was taking the children to the park when the vehicle got a flat tire, prompting her to pull over on Route 55. Her husband was en route to assist with changing the tire.

By Tuesday, the family's GoFundMe campaign had garnered over $86,000.
